VBPD/VBCPS Art Walk- A Student Perspective

After nearly a year in the making, the Virginia Beach Police Department (VBPD) unveiled its relationship-inspired student "Art Walk," located outside of the 4th Precinct Command at 5152 Lobaugh Drive. Student artists from Virginia Beach City Public Schools (VBCPS) within the jurisdiction of the 4th Precinct painted murals that demonstrate school pride, their interpretation of what a positive police and community partnership looks like, as well as their vision of a hopeful future for all people. Students worked with their School Resource Officers (SRO) to encourage open dialouge throughout the process. While an unveiling event planned for April was cancelled due to COVID-19, VBPD sent students "thank you" letters, and further plans are being made to honor their contributions at a later date.
