Virginia Beach Recreation Center Murals

The City of Virginia Beach Office of Cultural Affairs, in partnership with the Department of Parks and Recreation, is seeking three qualified Hampton Roads regional artists or artist-led teams to provide unique and site-specific murals for the foyer entrances of the Bayside Recreation Center, Great Neck Recreation Center, and Princess Anne Recreation Center. Each recreation center mural consists of two sections measuring approximately 440 square feet (See Exhibit B page 5 of RFP). The murals' goal is to welcome and reflect the spirit of the specified recreation center’s community. After a shortlist is decided, the community will publicly vote on the final selection of each mural. The murals will be completed by the selected artists during the first two weeks in March 2019. Artists may submit for more than one recreation center, but could only be awarded one, as all three murals will be completed simultaneously. DEADLINE TO APPLY: JANUARY 8, 2019. Follow the links below for more information and applications for each recreation center.
